Somanda technical centre is an education centre which was established under Ministry of education through non-formal system of education, this centre was established in 2000 under the leadership of Mr.Kiselya this centre is found at Bariadi district in Simiyu region, the centre is nearby Somanda grammar school at side, at Western side is nearby Somanda hospital and Somanda bus stand, at Eastern side is nearby bushes and at Southern side is nearby Water department office.

Aims and purpose of the centre
The following are the objectives of VETA
Provision of technical education in electric studies, carpentry, weeding and domestic cookery
The following are the ODL objectives as follows;
To provide equivalent education to children, youth and adults who couldn’t get the chance within the formal education system.
To cater for youth and adults who dropped out of college thanks to various reasons
To provide education to disadvantaged groups and nomads including girls and ladies on cross cutting issues like HIV/AIDS, poverty reduction, environment and good governance.
